About

My name is Allison and I am currently practicing as a registered nurse while also going to graduate school full-time, ultimately working towards becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. This blog is meant to be a resource for people whose lives have been affected by asthma either directly or indirectly, however the posts included on this blog are not a treatment plan. Be sure to discuss asthma management with your provider to ensure you are receiving care individualized to your health status.

Asthma is the one of the most common chronic medical conditions affecting the U.S. population with over 12 million people currently diagnosed with asthma. Poorly controlled asthma can have a dramatic effect on quality of life and exacerbations can be debilitating and often times require inpatient management. Preventative techniques are essential for optimal asthma control and asthma management requires a multifaceted, preventative approach if optimal asthma control is to be achieved. Within this blog, I will discuss ways to assess asthma control and strategies to optimize lung function for those who have been diagnosed with asthma.
